Merry Christmas!

My dear Family in Christ, “Be not afraid; I bring you good news of great joy for all mankind: To you is born this day, in the City of David, a Saviour, who is the Messiah, the Lord. Glory to God in the highest Heaven, and peace on earth to people of good will!”

Every time we wish someone ‘Merry Christmas’, we express in that short greeting the glorious words of the angel at the first Christmas. This is the joy of a people in darkness who have seen a great light; this is the joy of hope for the hopeless, a home for the lost, love for the lonely, mercy for the sinner. It is a cry to every corner of the world, no matter how different or divided it may be, proclaiming that one and the same God has created each of us, loves us, became one of us, and suffered, died, and rose for all of us.

It is an honour and a privilege for me to celebrate Christmas, and every Mass, with all of you. Since moving here in the summer, you have opened your hearts and this church, your home, to me. Aside from being ordained a priest, I have received no greater blessing this year. Thank you for everything so far- and may the Joy of our dear Saviour’s birth fill your hearts and homes this Christmas and always.

Merry Christmas! Father Daniel
