Development and Peace is the official international development organization of the Catholic Church in Canada, established by the Canadian bishops in 1967. It is a member of the Vatican-based Caritas Internationalis and has a two-fold purpose: 1) to raise funds to support partners in the Global South who promote alternatives to unfair social, political and economic structures and 2) to educate the Canadian population about the causes of poverty and mobilize Canadians towards actions for change.
